Tips To Support Your Immune Health

There’s more to supporting your immune system than eating oranges or taking a vitamin C tablet (though that can be part of it!) These easy, everyday tips on how to support your immune system are a proactive way to look after your health and Live Well.

1. Wash Your Hands

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick. Handwashing involves five easy and effective steps – wet your hands, lather your hands, fingers and underneath fingernails with soap. Then scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds, rinse under warm, clean water and dry your hands with a clean towel, or allow them to air dry.

2. Use Hand Sanitizer

When soap and water aren’t accessible, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used. Just make sure it contains at least 60% alcohol. Want to make your own hand sanitizer? See how to do it here.

3. Stay Active

You don’t have to go to the gym to be active. Move your sweat session into your home with home HITT workouts, videos or by creating a home gym space with kettlebells, bands, exercise balls and a foam roller.

4. Include An Immune Support Supplement

Incorporate immune health supplements into your daily wellness regimen. Vitamin C, zinc and probiotics are just some of the supplements that may support immune health.

5. Focus On Your Nutrition

Focus on whole body nutrition by incorporating at least one vitamin- and mineral-packed meal replacement shake into your daily diet. GNC Total Lean® Lean Shake™ 25 is formulated with carbohydrates, protein, fiber and up to 23 different vitamin and minerals, making it easy to pack tons of nutrition into one delicious shake.

6. Take A Multivitamin Every Day

Individual immune-support nutrients are important, but to be your best, you need to get the recommended daily intake for all of the vitamins and minerals. If you’re not 100% sure that your diet is adequate, a multivitamin can help.

7. Add Some Antioxidants

Take your smoothie game to the next level by whipping up a smoothie that features antioxidants. Antioxidants are a true powerhouse and help fight against free radicals.

8. Get Enough Rest

If you’re worried about your immune health now isn’t the time to be burning the candle at both ends. Sleep and the circadian system can influence immune health. Not only do studies show that people who get quality sleep are more likely to feel their best, but a lack of sleep can also affect overall health. Adults should aim for about 7-9 hours of sleep each night. If you need help supporting restful sleep, try a melatonin supplement or GNC Preventive Nutrition® Tri-Sleep™, a triple-layer sleep supplement that supports relaxation, going to sleep and calm sleep.

9. Handle Stress Head On

Uncertain times can trigger nerves and stress. Take extra measures to help you deal with the daily pressures. Yoga, meditation and calming exercises can help you feel centered and balanced. Products like L-theanine may help promote a sense of relaxation so you can live well during tough times.
